FAFSA Information for Seniors

FAFSA Information for Seniors

Dear Senior Families,

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) portal for 2019-20 opens on Oct. 1. While the deadline to complete the FAFSA varies by college, it is generally considered advantageous to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 in order to maximize your chance (and the amount) of federal financial aid a student will receive in their first year of college.

Here are a couple of helpful links which should assist in answering some questions you may have about the process and how it works:

We also have some resources in the Stevens guidance office to help with what can be a confusing process, particularly for families that have not completed it before.

As always, the Stevens school counselors will also help you in any way they can and the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (https://www.nhheaf.org/) will be in the Stevens library on Wed., Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. to discuss different variations and resources for financial aid. However, FAFSA is where everything generally begins for most two and four-year colleges, and completing it sooner rather than later will put you in a better position than waiting until after the application process is over.

Sincerely,

Stevens High School Counseling Department
